Queens come screaming to TV

Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of Glee and American Horror Story is giving us another delightful treat. Murphy has created a new show titled Scream Queens. The show will premier on Fox this September and stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, and former Glee star, Lea Michele.

Scream Queens is a tribute to the slasher movies from the 80s. The show centers around a college sorority that is being stalked by a mysterious killer. Murphy says the show is a “Heathers meets Friday the 13th” horror/comedy series.

Murphy sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss what Scream Queens has in store for us. He created the show because many viewers of American Horror Story couldn’t watch the show because it was “too scary.”

Murphy said, “It [Scream Queens] doesn’t have the gore of American Horror Story, but it certainly still has the scares.”

Curtis, the famed original “scream queen,” plays Dean Cathy Munsch. Roberts plays Chanel, the president of Kappa Sorority. Other cast members include Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin, Ariana Grande, and Nick Jonas.

Scream Queens comes to our televisions this fall. Check out cast photos and the teaser trailer below:

The Barden Bellas are back

If you were one of the millions of people who laughed so hard they cried while watching an all-girl acapella group fail its way to success, get excited because a sequel is on its way.

Pitch Perfect 2 is singing its way into theaters this May. The film features the same cast: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Elizabeth Banks, and Skylar Astin, to name a few, and also features some bright new faces like Hailee Steinfeld.

The sequel comes after the 2012 box office smash that follows Beca, played by Kendrick, into the world of collegiate acapella competitions. Beca starts off as a loner who doesn’t really care about school or singing. But with the help of some wacky characters, joins the Barden Bellas and wins the ultimate acapella competition.

Classic slasher franchise makes it way to television

The ultimate slasher/comedy flick, Scream, is becoming a television series. The 1996 movie followed teenager Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell, as her town is savagely terrorized by a mass murderer dressed in a “ghost face” costume.

The film generated so much success that three other movies were made, with the last one, Scream 4, premiering in 2011.

Rumors have been running wild on the Internet over whether or not the Scream franchise would get green lit for a television show. Well now we can rest easy. MTV has filmed the first season of Scream and it’s set to premiere June 30, 2015.

While there is not much known about the show’s plot, executive producer Harvey Weinstein assures that there are moments reminiscent of the original film.

The Scream trailer shows that the killers may not be carrying on the tradition of the “ghost face” mask. The iconic costume from the films may have been cut from the series, but time will tell.

The film also hit close to home for one of the actors. Kravitz told Complex,“You could see my rib cage. I was just trying to lose more weight for the film but I couldn’t see: You’re there. Stop. It was scary.”

Kravitz also explained,”[Now] I feel like something has left my body, like some part of me is gone now, something that was making me so insecure. And it feels amazing.”

The film’s release date is set for April 17, 2015. Check out the trailer below.

This isn’t the first time Noah has been on The Daily Show. He has appeared on the show three times in the past as a correspondent. Stewart has nothing but kind words for Noah. “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor. He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with,” Stewart said in a statement.

Comedy Central president, Michele Ganeless, said in an interview, “You don’t hope to find the next Jon Stewart – there is no next Jon Stewart. So, our goal was to find someone who brings something really exciting and new and different.”

Noah’s new promotion on The Daily Show is unexpected because of his lack of visibility in the states. However, his comedic stand-up shows proves that he has the chops to make it on Comedy Central.
